QMEA Learning and evaluation situations workshop 2008
Message from the President
Dear Music Colleagues,
According to the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS) in Québec, the teaching of the arts in the schools is based on the development of three competencies. In music, for example, the following three competencies must be developed: Interpretation of Music, Creation of Music and Appreciation of Music.
Competencies are developed by performing one or more complex tasks in a situation known as Learning and Evaluation Situation (LES).
In an upcoming workshop brought to you by the QMEA the presenters will address current issues in music education in Quebec such as evaluation, the new credited music program, creativity, information technology, performance and the appreciation of music from the LES perspective.
I hope you are available to join us! We look forward to meeting you and sharing teaching strategies and ideas on LES in music with you.
Best Wishes for a healthy, productive and musically active academic year!
Theodora Stathopoulos, QMEA President
